Those who choose to use their Disney Cruise military discount will enjoy all the benefits and fun offered by the Disney Cruise Line. Some travelers describe Disney cruises much like they do the Disney theme park experience.
You’ll enjoy song-and-dance performances, Disney-themed activities that are suitable for all ages including adults-only options, plenty of great food and fine dining opportunities, and a trip to Disney’s exclusive island, Castaway Cay.
All of this comes with the hospitality and customer service you’ve come to expect from the Disney brand.
Using Your Disney Cruise Military Discount
Military discounts on a Disney Cruise are available to all retired and active duty US military personnel, including their spouses, for any of the branches of service. To receive the discount, you must show a valid ID when you check-in and the active military member or spouse must be traveling on the cruise with the other members of the party.
Active members of the US Army Reserve and US National Guard are also eligible for the Disney Cruise discount but must show active duty orders dates January 1st as of the year before cruising.
Rates travelers will pay with their military discount varies based on the sail date and the category of accommodations they choose. There might also be other restrictions on a cruise by cruise basis. Discount rates are based on double occupancy of a single room and are per person with at least one active duty or retired military member in the party. Military discounts cannot be combined with other discount offers or coupons.
Disney Cruise Military Discount Lets You Create Memories that Will Last a Lifetime
Taking a Disney Cruise with your family will be something you’ll remember for the rest of your life. Even if you’re an avid cruiser, you’ll find that a Disney Cruise goes above and beyond and is an experience your entire family will love.
There are plenty of activities for children of all ages, ranging from shows to clubs that are kids-only.
The Oceaneer Club and Oceaneer Lab is a destination aboard the ship for children ages 3-12. Many kids report their visit to the club and lab is the best part of their vacation. There are plenty of fun, educational activities for the kids and many are hands-on and organized and supervised by adults.
Kids are free to attend the Oceaneer Club and Oceaneer Lab on their own but must be signed in and out by an adult. Children over the age of eight might have the option of signing themselves in when they arrive with prior permission. Sign-in at the Oceaneer Club can last through a visit to Castaway Cay. Club supervisors will escort the group of children to the island, while you and your fellow adult travelers can relax and enjoy the island without the children around.
In addition to the Oceaneer Club and Lab for younger children, Disney Cruises also offers activities for older kids and teens. The Edge club is for tween cruisers ages 11 through 14.Vibe is a club for older kids ages 14 through 17. Fourteen-year-old kids are free to visit both clubs. The clubs provide activities for older kids and a place to hang out with kids their own age and make new friends while cruising.
Meeting Characters on a Disney Cruise
Character meet and greets are just as popular on a Disney Cruise as they are when you visit the park. There are plenty of opportunities for military families to spend time with their favorite Disney characters and in most cases, you’ll encounter the majority of characters aboard the ship at one time or another even without scheduling any official meet and greet experiences.
Characters do make an appearance on a schedule, so if your goal is to get a photo with every character, you’ll want to call the character hotline and check on the timing and location for each character. The last thing you want is to spend a once-in-a-lifetime vacation chasing characters all over the Disney cruise ship! It’s also possible, as it is in Disney Parks, to dine with characters. These experiences book up early, so be sure to schedule a reservation shortly after booking your trip.
Disney honors military families in many ways, but one of the best opportunities available is for military families to enjoy a Disney Cruise for a reduced rate. It’s fun for the entire family and an affordable way to bring your dreams to life.
