Brief history of Apple
Apple is a huge corporation. In fact, in terms of revenue, it is the largest information technology company in the world. Apple was founded back in 1976 by Steve Jobs, Ronald Wayne, and Steve Wozniak and since then has gone from strength to strength providing the public with innovative and high-quality technology.
When Apple first went public, it was all about offering the world what it considered to be the best personal computer there was. Now, the company is just as much about cell phones as it is technology. In terms of revenue, Apple is now one of the world’s largest cell phone manufacturers, with pole position going to Samsung. Even so, the success of Apple doesn’t seem to be slowing. The total annual revenue for the company topped $229 billion for 2017 and its often referred to as one of the world’s most valuable brands.
Why it’s important to allow military discounts
A small military discount is a small drop in the ocean as to what we really owe these amazing people. We literally owe them our lives. Without the veterans of this country we would not be here today, so offering a small military discount to them is the very least we can do. The same goes for the active military personnel that risk their lives every single day in one way or another just to make sure the rest of us can sleep safe at night.
That’s just one of the many great things about Apple. The company recognizes the need to honor and respect our military members, both present and past in various ways. Just keep reading to learn about some of the great things Apple does to support our veterans and military personnel.
Support for veterans and military personnel
It’s not just its products that make Apple a successful brand; it’s the way in which it cares about its customers too. And it’s clear to see just by looking at some of the ways in which Apple honors veterans, those on active duty, and anyone else in military service for our country that they truly do care. The following are just a couple of ways in which Apple show its veterans and military personnel just how important and respected they are:
The Apple Watch “Veteran” Activity Challenge
Veterans Day falls on November 11 each year and is the day that marks the anniversary of the signing of the armistice that was to be the end of World War I. Originally named Armistice Day, it’s a public holiday in the United States and one that is taken very seriously for many obvious reasons. There are more than 18 million veterans in the United States, with over 9 million of these being at least 65 years old. Veterans Day is a day dedicated to all those courageous men and women who served in the U.S. Military and it’s a chance for us to let them know just how appreciative we are for all they’ve done for us and our country.
As well as providing the world with fantastic pieces of technology, the company also likes to focus on their customers as individuals too. One very special way in which it did this was through the introduction of an Apple Watch activity challenge on November 11 last year. The challenge was specially designed to raise awareness for and commemorate the veterans of our country. It was available to anyone in the US with an Apple Watch and whoever completed a workout of at least 11 minutes on that day would earn a special messages badge and sticker.
The Federal Government and Military Employee Purchase ProgramIt’s not just Veterans Day that Apple honors America’s military and government employees. There’s a whole site dedicated to these service people that enabled them to enjoy Apple products at a discounted price. It’s just one way of Apple saying “thank you” to all those that helped get us where we are today and all those that continue to keep us safe.
The Federal Government and Military Employee is a discount program specially designed for active and retired personnel, veterans, and family members of those employed in government services or the U.S. Military, National Guard and Reserve. The amount of discount available varies depending on the item and is typically somewhere between 5% and 15%. However, please note the Apple Military discount does not apply to all Apple products. Items such as the iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch are not discounted.
We hope you found the above article informative and helpful. It’s great to learn that not all companies are out for themselves and some do actually take the time to honor and respect those that deserve it. So, the next time you think about Apple, don’t just think about it as a big, fancy corporation being run by a bunch of executives sitting on a beach somewhere, counting their millions. Instead, you can think of it as a big organization that actually cares enough and has the decency to set up a discount program especially for veterans and military personnel.
